100 Films 100 Posters

100 Films 100 Posters has been a unique side event of the JEONJU International Film Festival (JEONJU IFF) since 2015. This exhibition selects 100 films from the festival, then showcases them as posters by 100 graphic designers. The resulting 100 posters that are reinterpreted by the designers are displayed in the exhibition spaces as well as on the streets of Jeonju, offering the public a new way to experience the event.

This event serves as both an exploration of visual language through the collaboration of the film and graphic design industries and an experimental platform for the creative intersection of film and design. For film enthusiasts, it will provide a new way to engage with films, while for designers, it will present an opportunity to reinterpret films through the medium of print. The 100 posters, unveiled annually in May in Jeonju, later find homes in various spaces, functioning as dynamic media that bridge film and design.

Celebrating its 10th anniversary last year with an expanded space and duration, 100 Films 100 Posters continues to offer diverse programs this year as part of Jeonju city’s tourism hub initiative. While maintaining the tradition of film poster exhibition, it broadens the intersection between film and graphic design even more this year. From this year, it introduces a thematic event, with the inaugural theme being ‘Film Festival Design’. Through association with the Salon talk series, the program highlights domestic film festival design, providing opportunities to share various cases and insights. 100 Films 100 Posters aspires to be a distinctive tourism program unique to Jeonju and serves as a festival representing May that everyone can enjoy.

We look forward to your support as we continue to innovate with 100 Films 100 Posters.

Salon ‘100 Films 100 Posters’: Film Festival Design

Salon is a newly introduced thematic event for the 11th 100 Films 100 Posters. This year’s theme is Film Festival Design. Each year, Korea hosts over 170 film festivals of various scales, each of them establishes its identity and communicates with audiences through its unique designs. Film festival design, often considered a festival identity, goes beyond mere promotional materials. It also guides programs, provides information, and visually expresses each festival’s unique character.
Salon is a two-day event featuring experts from the film and the design industries, offering discussions on how design is experienced within and beyond film festivals, how designers collaborate with festival organizers, and what cultural significance independent film festival designs hold in Korea’s visual culture. The event consists of three parts: Open, Review, and Critic, offering a comprehensive perspective on film festival design from various angles.
